General Questions
How often does SpendGuard check inventory?
SpendGuard checks inventory whenever it changes, not on a fixed schedule. This means:
When a product is sold (via Shopify order webhook)
When inventory is manually updated
When inventory syncs from other systems
This ensures guards respond immediately to inventory changes.
What data does SpendGuard store?
SpendGuard stores:
Guard configurations - Your rules and settings
Ad entity data - Campaigns, ad groups, and ads (names, IDs, statuses)
Inventory levels - Current stock levels for monitored products
Sales history - Daily sales data for days of cover calculations
Activity logs - History of pause/resume actions
We do NOT store:
Ad creative content
Customer data
Payment information
Personal information beyond what's needed for OAuth
Can I use SpendGuard with multiple Shopify stores?
Each SpendGuard installation is connected to one Shopify store. If you have multiple stores, you'll need a separate SpendGuard installation for each.
Is my data secure?
Yes. SpendGuard:
Uses OAuth for platform connections (no password storage)
Encrypts access tokens
Follows Shopify security best practices
Complies with data protection regulations
Guard Questions
What happens if I manually pause an ad?
If you manually pause an ad that's managed by a guard:
Without Takeover: SpendGuard will pause it again when rules trigger, but will NOT resume it automatically
With Takeover: SpendGuard will manage it normally, including resuming it when inventory recovers
Tip: Enable takeover if you want SpendGuard to manage all paused ads.
Can I use multiple platforms in one guard?
Yes! You can select ad entities from multiple platforms in a single guard:
Select campaigns from both Meta Ads and Google Ads
Mix ad groups from different platforms
Combine ads from multiple platforms
All selected entities will be paused/resumed together when the guard's rules are triggered.
How do I know if a guard is working?
Check the Activity Feed:
Look for pause/resume actions from your guard
Check the timestamps to see when actions occurred
Review batch details to see which entities were affected
You can also:
View guard details to see last evaluation time
Check guard status on the Guards page
Review email notifications (if enabled)
Can I edit a guard after creation?
Go to the Guards pageOpen the Guards page in the UI.Select a guardClick on the guard you want to edit.Click EditClick the Edit button.Make changesAdjust the guard settings as needed.SaveClick Save. Changes take effect immediately. The guard will re-evaluate on the next inventory check.
What's the difference between Monitor and Pause+Resume?
Monitor Only:
Tracks inventory and evaluates rules
Sends email notifications
Does NOT automatically pause or resume ads
Useful for testing or manual control
Pause + Resume:
Fully automated operation
Automatically pauses ads when rules trigger
Automatically resumes ads when inventory recovers
Sends email notifications for all actions
How does Days of Cover calculation work?
Sales HistoryLooks at recent daily sales (typically last 7-30 days).Average Sales RateCalculates average units sold per day.Days RemainingDivides current inventory by average sales rate.Example: If you have 20 units and sell 2 units per day on average, you have 10 days of cover.Resume Buffer: When resuming, SpendGuard adds a 20% buffer to prevent rapid on/off switching.
Technical Questions
What happens if I disconnect a platform?
If you disconnect a platform:
All guards using that platform's entities will stop working
You'll see errors in the activity feed
You'll need to reconnect or remove those entities from guards
Before disconnecting: Consider removing those entities from your guards first.
Can I pause a guard temporarily?
Yes, but there's no "pause guard" feature. Instead:
Delete the guard - Removes it completely (you can recreate it later)
Change to Monitor Mode - Stops automation but keeps monitoring
Remove entities - Remove all ad entities (guard won't act on anything)
What if an ad is deleted in the ad platform?
If an ad entity is deleted in the ad platform:
It will be marked as archived in SpendGuard
Guards will skip archived entities
You'll see errors in activity feed if a guard tries to act on it
Remove it from the guard to clear the error
How do I see which products are being monitored?
Go to GuardsGo to the Guards page.Open guardClick on a guard.Scroll to ProductsScroll to the Products section.View monitored itemsSee all products and collections being monitored.
Can I export my guard configurations?
Currently, there's no export feature. Guard configurations are stored in the database and can be viewed/edited through the UI.
