Common issues and how to resolve them.
Symptoms:
Connection status shows as "Active" but sync doesn't work
Ads not appearing after connection
Solutions:
Go to Settings → Connections and verify status is "Active".
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the platform.
Ensure your account has admin access to the ad account.
Make sure OAuth permissions are still valid.
The ad platform may be experiencing issues.
Connection status shows as "Disconnected"
Cannot sync or manage ads
Go to Settings → Connections and click "Connect".
You may need to re-authorize.
Ensure you still have access to the ad account.
Guard shows as active but ads remain active
No pause actions in activity feed
Ensure it's set to "Pause + Resume" (not "Monitor Only").
Check that products are actually below the pause threshold.
Verify pause threshold is configured correctly.
Check activity feed for any error messages.
Ensure ad entities are not archived or deleted.
Ads remain paused even when inventory recovers
No resume actions in activity feed
Verify inventory is above the resume threshold.
If ads were paused outside SpendGuard, takeover may be needed.
Check for failure reasons in activity feed.
Ensure ad entities still exist and are accessible.
Guard status doesn't match actual ad status
Confusion about whether guard is working
View guard details to see last evaluation time.
Check recent actions for that guard.
Trigger a manual sync to update entity statuses.
Verify rules are configured as expected.
Sync button shows "Syncing..." for extended period
No completion message
Large accounts can take 5-10 minutes.
Don't close the browser tab during sync.
Verify connection is still active.
If it fails, wait for cooldown and try again.
Sync button is disabled
Message shows "You recently synced"
Full syncs are rate-limited (6-24 hours depending on platform).
See when you can sync again.
Initial syncs after connection don't have cooldowns.
Sync completes but no ads appear
Entity selector shows "No ads found"
Verify you've selected the correct ad account.
Ensure the account has active ads.
Ads may be filtered out (archived, wrong status, etc.).
Check if sync actually completed successfully.
Activity feed shows this failure reason
Ads cannot be resumed
Edit the guard and enable takeover.
Resume the ads manually in the ad platform.
Delete and recreate the guard with takeover enabled.
No activity entries appearing
Guards seem inactive
Ensure guards are active.
Guards only act when inventory changes.
Activity feed may be filtered.
Guards are working but no emails received
Verify email notifications are enabled.
Emails may be filtered.
Ensure correct email in Shopify account.
Check guard notification preferences.
If you're still experiencing issues:
Review detailed error messages.
Check guard configuration and last evaluation.
Verify all connections are active.
